RIEGL VQ-1560i-DW Dual Wavelength Waveform Processing Airborne LiDAR Scanning System
The VQ-1560i DW provided excellent coverage of the construction site and surrounding property. This provides additional information useful to help track the ways the construction has effected the surround land. The drainage of the land is always a critical point to consider and it is even more important in Florida especially as we enter Hurricane season. Future development plans for the adjacent lots can use the data from the collection, as the footprint of a single pass is wider than a single lot. The dual channel scan matrix scan pattern helps provide great detail on the site even from over a 1000 ft AGL. The dual wavelength helps highlight the difference in material types and surfaces, such as the roof of each section of the building. Vegetation analysis and penetration though the canopies is achieved with the DW data. Allowing for a digital terrain model (DTM) to be created of the forested lot directly to the east of the building site. The features are captured at a high enough density to merge the data with more detailed scans from ULS, MLS, and TLS. The unique cross-fire and off nadir look of the VQ-1560i -DW gives details on just the roofs but also the faces of buildings, which helps provide a more though view of the site.
The RIEGL VQ-1560i-DW Airborne Mapping System offers two LiDAR channels of different wavelenghts, green and infrared (IR). These wavelengths are well chosen to allow acquisition of scan data of complementary information content, thus delivering two independent reflectance distribution maps. The system provides a laser pulse repetition rate of up to 1 MHz per channel, resulting in a total of more than 1.3 million measurements per second on the ground and works at highest productivity when both LiDAR channels are combined, typically at altitudes up to 8300 ft. However, each channel is also prepared for stand-alone operation. This channel selection capability in combination with a matched line of measurement programs as well as widely variable scan parameters enable highest flexibility for meeting the requirements of challenging application scenarios. The system is complemented by a high performance IMU/GNSS unit and up to two optional cameras.
The RIEGL VQ-1560i-DW offers innovative technology for commercial as well as scientific research applications, e.g. in vegetation mapping for agriculture and forestry.
